Latest report on Indonesia digital economy
Google, Temasek, and Bain released a report estimating Indonesia’s digital economy’s value at US$ 70 billion (IDR 997 trillion) for this year, a 49% year-on-year growth. The report also estimates the digital economy to reach US$ 146 billion (IDR 2.08 trillion) by 2025. In Southeast Asia, e-commerce GMV (gross merchandise value) is estimated to be at US$120 billion, a 62% year-on-year growth for 2021, and is expected to reach US$ 234 billion by 2025. One in two shoppers in Southeast Asia has shown higher purchase frequency since the CV-19 pandemic. Consequently, the report observes e-commerce’s emphasis on user engagement and GMV growth, in addition to customer acquisition. Meanwhile, for this year, the value of online media transactions are projected to reach US$ 22 billion, a 32% year-on-year growth, while transportation and food delivery sectors are projected to reach US$ 18 billion, a 36% year-on-year growth.
